We ventured into Canada for our mini vacation this year and here are a few thoughts.
- Canadians have no concept of a car having the right of way, going so far as challenging a tour bus to the roadway when needing to cross a street.
- Canadians don't seem to hurry, lunch takes longer to get, but Canadians seem to linger longer over drinks and don't notice that it takes more than 45 minutes to get a sandwich and fries.
- Niagara Falls was incredibly trash free, though must say some of it could be classified as tourist trap trashy.
- Road construction is not restricted to the USA only, Canada has miles and miles of it.
- Marriott hotels rock!
- Red Sox fans on the road are equally if not more obnoxious than at Fenway...enough already!
- Toronto is an incredible city, with great customer service.
- How did we ever get along without Wi-Fi?
- I judge a hotel by the cleanliness of the room's bathroom, so far our hotels rate an A+
- Why is it, that no matter which pair of shoes I choose, (I packed 3) none prevents the "burning of the sole" phenomenon that happens when walking a bit too much.
- Why do I pack a swimsuit and never venture near the indoor pools?
- Does food really taste sooooo much better on vacation, or is it just because you don't have to cook it ?
- Why do I pack enough outfits for a week when I only need outfits for 3 days, and why is it what I pack is not what I need.....can you say "Boy it's cold and rainy in Toronto!"
- I would rather be on the road with my hubby than anyone else in the world
- Garmen is the best invention since the PC, love it, love it, love it.
- Water, cannot say enough about having a case of bottled water in the car, essential when you are sightseeing or staying in very dry hotels
- Puffy hair - seems to be my nemesis when travelling - I attribute this to soft water, which I have none of at my home
- Fire Alarms - an essential part of the interior architecture of a hotel - do not want to hear it go off at midnight, necessitating an exit via the stairs from the 7th floor, and after learning it was a "non-event", schlepping back up the 7 flights of stairs - elevators did not come back on line until after 2.
- During vacation, days seem to be less than 24 hours long - they simply fly, would that be true of the workday, eh? (I'm speaking Canadian there)
