I am not much of a political animal. Basically, every election I read as much as I can about the candidates, listen to debates and then vote for whoever I think will do the best job. I vote the candidate and not necessarily the party. I know folks who are adamant about their party affiliation, and I admire that, it's just not for me.
That is basically my thought process when it comes to politics, but lately I'm thinking that perhaps the folks who run for office should also start out with a thought process when it comes to running for office. It would seem to me if you would rather run around with women, perhaps even go so far as to fly to a South American country for a quick rendez-vous, perhaps becoming the Governor of a state is not exactly the career path for you. I think if you have a weekly meeting with a young lady who charges for her services, perhaps being the governor of a state is not for you. And if you decide that you would prefer to have an illicit affair with your male limo driver instead of being with your wife, perhaps being the governor of a state is not exactly the best career choice for you.
It would seem that the position of governor has been attracting less than stellar candidates of late. Perhaps it is something in the genes, but I tend to believe that it is more like something in their jeans.
Before anyone decides to run for office, I think they should ask themselves, "Am I ready to give up all of the philandering in order to do this job?" If the answer is NO, then don't run. I am tired of all of the apologies, the excuses, the denials, and of course the prerequisite statement that they are sinners who have strayed , and beg the forgiveness of their constituency. Please! I believe that they are sorry, oh yes, I believe that they are sorry that they got caught!
It would seem that once the office is attained, morals seem to fade away. Or perhaps they were never there to begin with.
