Rainy Days and Cook-outs...Never a good idea

I did not think that I was a "sun" person, however, having just experienced 19 out of 20 days with no sun, in fact most were pretty moist, I have come to the realization that I do prefer sunny days over consistent rainy ones.

Overcast, dark, dreary days make me want to stay in bed. They zap me of energy, and just to add insult they make my hair curl in some bride of Frankenstein sort of way, something I could really live without.

There are extensive studies on the lack of sun during the winter months, but how about the summer months?

Today, I spent most of my morning slaving away in the kitchen, preparing all the foods my hubby likes. Tomorrow is Father's Day and we have scheduled a cook-out with the family, hence all of today's kitchen preparation. Tonight I'm happy to say that the kielbasa and Chinese sausages are thawing in the fridge, and the dipping sauces are in the cupboard just waiting to be opened. The pasta and potato salads are all prepared and will benefit in taste by being in the fridge overnight. The Harry and David pepper relish dip has been made, and the tortilla chips have been bought, all of this in anticipation of celebrating Father's Day with an old school Cook-out. All of hubby's favorite foods are on the menu. And I just got up from my comfy chair, depressed .......the weatherman clearly showed the forecast, not only for tomorrow, but for the rest of the week.....clouds and rain with temperatures in the 60's. Not exactly what I was counting on for tomorrow.

I am anticipating grilling between raindrops, sitting inside, watching the rain. I am going to bring out a card game (which includes $ to play) and hopefully my luck will change. What do they say, unlucky in weather....lucky in cards? Hey it's dark, it's drizzly, it's just plain dismal....so I am entitled to make up my own adages, who knows, if this weather keeps up, it just might become words embroidered on somebody's sampler.

In the meantime, I needn't shop for mushrooms, I have them growing in the front lawn.
