Date Night - It's All About a Bargain

Tonight is date night.

It's been a while since we actually planned to do something in the middle of the work week. Generally, after work, we meet up at home, discuss our day over an adult beverage, cook, eat and then exhausted, we park it in front of the TV him in his poufy chair with ottoman, me in an ever so fluffly recliner, where we promptly nod off before the first show we intended to watch is even half through. So tonight it is a bit of a change.
What led up to this date night is my hubby getting bargain theater tickets through AAA. It's all about a bargain with him. So, we have the tickets, and now we have to decide what to go to see. I am all about chick flicks, which he is not. He enjoys a good shoot em up, Predator-like movie.
So we have agreed to disagree about movies, instead we do this thing about choice. Tonight is his choice. He has chosen Angels and Demons with Tom Hanks. I loved the book, we'll see about the movie. So that leaves the next movie we go to "My Choice". And under our choice rule, there is to be no muttering under one's breath, no deep sighs, no feigning a stomach ache at the last minute when I tell him that I want to see the new Sandra Bullock movie, The Proposal. He is lucky that I only take him to the comedies and spare him from sitting through the tearjerkers.
On occasion we both actually look forward to seeing the same movie. We enjoyed all of he Harry Potter films, and we both liked Iron Man (which I must admit was a hubby choice film) but I liked it anyway.
I am thankful for AAA, without them and their discounted tickets my frugal hubby and I would be home most likely watching the Red Sox and straining to stay awake. So in a darkened theater with way too comfortable seats I'm thinking that it's going to take an extra large popcorn with butter along with a ginormous drink and maybe just maybe some chocolate thrown in for good measure, to keep us from lapsing into our nodding off routine.
