I cannot remember the last time I reacted so strongly to a news story like I did yesterday morning. I was into my morning routine, and I was listening to a local morning news radio show and heard the news reporter announce that later in the day there would be a rally at the state house and the group demonstrating there would be demanding their rights. I have absolutely no problem with freedom of speech and our right to assembly, our forefathers made sure that these rights would be an essential part of the backbone to their new country. I truly believe that everyone has the right to voice their opinion whether I agree with them or not. So let me say this up front, I did not object to the premise of the demonstration - what I objected to was that the assemblage consisted of a group of outspoken illegal aliens who were demanding their rights.
Since when did illegal aliens get rights in this country, and perhaps someone should enlighten them about the meaning of the word illegal.
Hello....you have arrived in this country illegally, you have no rights, you should not be here! This country grew and prospered by the thousands of immigrants who came to America through legal channels. My ancestors did. My outrage is not with immigrants who enter this country legally, work hard, embrace what it has to offer and are proud to become an American. My outrage comes when illegal aliens tell me a hard working American that I must give them rights. They have no right to be in this country. They need to enter legally, just as millions of other Americans have done. I believe if they proclaim that they are illegal immigrants, the police and the immigration officials should round them up and deport them to their country of origin. I truly believe that my head almost blew off when I heard that one of their demands was to pay the same money for college as an in-state student. They are not an in-state student, they are not an American, they are not in this country legally!
I'm tired of cheaters. I'm tired of people working around the system to get what they want. I want it to stop. I want the Madoffs, and the A-rods and everyone else who believes that they can take a "short cut" to get what they want, I want them to be held accountable, and that is exactly how I feel about an illegal alien demonstrating in my state in front of my state house for their rights. I have a right to say, Enough! When will people not see the madness in this? Illegal, not legal, bad, wrong, what about the word do people not get.
I think to myself, would any other country in the world allow this? I don't think so. I want honesty, I want people to obey the laws of the land. I want this country to continue to welcome new citizens,I just want it all to be done legally.

Ellen,
While I have no way of knowing which political direction you've taken in life, I think that I was surprised that I agree with you 100 percent on this one. Also, I'm not sure what it means, but I have spent the last 30 years in the communications (public information) business.
Regards,
Bob
