I have been home from work for a complete week, coughing, sneezing, aching....definitely could have been the poster child for a Nyquil commercial. And I have discovered, that I am not good at being sick.
I especially dislike fevers....generally hate the way they seem to dissipate in the morning lulling you into a false sense of hope that you are on the way to recovery, and then Wham, reappear at night to make every part of your body hurt, right down to the nail on an achy baby toe!
I especially dislike waking up to crusty eyes. I imagine that if you never removed make-up, and kept applying mascara day after day, you probably would wake up with a similar feeling. Gross.
I also do not like sneezing so hard that if you did not put a hankie to your nose, the spray would hit a target about 20 feet away. I don't like the way food tastes when you're sick, for the most part it has no taste. Cold, if it tastes cold, its good, especially on the throat.
Colds/flu also wreak havoc on a nose. I have what I call a Kleenex burn on the underside of my nose, from the continuous flow exiting through the one non-stuffed nostril. And currently I am suffering from Kathleen Turner voice, which at any other time I might enjoy, but not when it hurts to produce the effect.
And to top everything off, I actually had a flu shot this year....yup, that instills me with confidence to run right out and sign up for next year. Yup, I'm not good at being sick, I realize that I tend to become quite whiny in fact.
Plus side to all this.....loss of 4 pounds....right before the Happy Holiday parties food extravaganza is about to begin....a not so bad consolation prize.
