I think that in 2008 we should all learn to lie. And learn to lie well. If we do, we can really begin to have some fun with the upcoming primaries.
I appreciate the fact that the citizenry of NH rebelled at what the pollsters had to say, and went into the voting booths and proved them all wrong! The fun part was listening to the "talking heads" try to flip-flop and put a new slant on why what they predicted fell flat on its face.
I long for a headline like "Dewey beats Truman", just to let the media know that they do not control how folks vote.
So, for the year 2008, whenever anyone asks you who you are leaning toward, if you are a Democrat, pick a Republican and if you are a Republican, choose a Democrat. And if you want to tell them that you are a Democrat, fine, just don't tell them which Democrat you chose.
The moment someone "polls" as a front runner, it seems that suddenly there is lots of money for support. How about supporting a candidate who is best for the country and not because of what the candidate can do for you? A concept that has been bandied about since the 60's.
So, for 2008, I resolve to lie to every media outlet that values my opinion, and keep my vote secret, after all isn't that why the voting booth was invented? If anyone asks me who I'm voting for, I'm going to say Ross Perot, and if they mention that he is not running, I'll look them square in the eye and lie and say "write in vote".
My vote stays with me in the voting booth where it belongs.
