Box Cutters...a Christmas Morning Essential

Packaging in today's world has become the bane of my existence. Why do manufacturers deem it necessary to encase all of their merchandise in heat sealed plastic packaging?
Opening Christmas presents is a real challenge. It used to be that you would complain about the folks who went a bit wild with the scotch tape on the boxes, now you need a box cutter at the ready when opening a gift.
It does not matter if the gift cost $1 or $100, the non-bending unrelenting hard clear plastic packaging will surround it.
I think when you die, you should be put through the same plastic machine, and slipped into the ground, protected for eternity encased in plastic packaging, unless of course there is a gopher with a box cutter.
